forever lost in space
and the light fell on the live oaks
awakened all my high hopes
and sparkled in her hazel eyes
and kissed her freckled face

nothing there but ocean mud
and fish with curly teeth

and the waters rose up to the shallows
ascended to the heavens
rained back down in curtains
to satisfy the streams

straight to a faucet
