San Antonio is a small town
dressed up in bigger city ways
well I can’t say I agree much with that statement
even if it’s what some olden timers say
everything’s so far
you almost live inside your car
and it’s several different cities lumped in one
any number of
San Antonios you could be from

yeah as for me, I’m going back
to a place that I can
drive across in maybe
ten minutes flat
and every time I walk to the square
run into folks I know
who ain’t there for the Alamo or Hemisfair
I’ve made it through the big city up till now
time to head on back and make my home again
on the banks of the Comal

well New Braunfels was a small town
that’s what the children
of the Germans might complain
well I know we’re chiselin’ further
through this century
and growin’ has its own peculiar pain

just want some kind of home at last
